Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau - Stop exporting abortion

My post to International Development Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau inspired this letter from Theresa Winchester:
"Ms. Bibeau, I read with interest how you want to increase the funds available for abortion in developing countries using my tax dollars to end the lives of innocents in the pre-born stage of their lives.

Please be aware that I strenuously and absolutely disagree with this. I object totally with my tax dollars being used to pay for abortion in any and every country in the world including Canada.

You want to "ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, and every girl and woman is treated with the dignity and respect she deserves."  That's nothing new because we all do. But coming from a Liberal MP who condones the death of girl children in the womb simply because of their gender, that's rich indeed.

How about we give Canadian tax dollars instead to organizations who work in developing countries to provide good pre-and post-natal care along with the facilities for safe birth? Isn't that a radical idea, Marie-Claude?

We would never accept abortion in Canada that is justified by unsafe birthing conditions; we would demand that all women have access to safe childbirth, n'est-ce pas? It sounds quite simple and it is. Odd that I just can't see the Liberal government getting on board that one for women and children in developing countries. We hear nothing from the PM about providing funds for safe childbirth NGOs, only the same old tired tune from Justin Trudeau about how he is a committed feminist even while applauding the freedom of choice that allows females to be killed before they are born in Canada and in other countries solely because they are females.

I don't know how you people sleep at night.

Yours sincerely,"

Mike Pence speaks at US pro-life March for Life

Mike Pence just spoke at the March for Life in the United States. Imagine Justin Trudeau doing that in Canada? No I can't imagine that either.

So refreshing to actually hear a politician--the vice president of the US no less--with grace and principle, speaking to thousands and thousands pro-life people against abortion and for life.

Say no to Marie-Claude Bibeau's abortion ideology

International Development Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau, along with Lilianne Ploumen, the Dutch minister of foreign trade and development co-operation, wants to send our tax dollars overseas to fund abortions:
"Bibeau's office says she and Ploumen have spoken on a regular basis about sexual and reproductive rights, including abortion."
"Bibeau's mandate letter already includes a commitment to ensuring that Canadian development aid for maternal, newborn and child health "is driven by evidence and outcomes, not ideology, including by closing existing gaps in reproductive rights and health care for women." (emphasis added)
"Canada's intention is to advance a strong women empowerment agenda," Bibeau said in a statement provided by her office on Thursday. "This will include an increase in investments to support advocacy work for women's reproductive rights and for the provision of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services, including safe abortion, where legal and post-abortion care."
The government's approach, Bibeau said, "will ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, and every girl and woman is treated with the dignity and respect she deserves."
"We just concluded a very successful consultation and are now in the process of reviewing Canada's global assistance to be finalized in the coming weeks. Any additional funding will be decided post budget."
We all need to write to Minister Bibeau and tell her we do not want our tax dollars funding abortion overseas. That we do not share her abortion ideology:

More deceipt at Planned Parenthood

Live Action's latest sting on Planned Parenthood is unbelievable.

The pro-abortions hate CPCs because they say CPCs lie and misinform women and are deceptive in their practiscs. Which of course, is all nonsense.

Now we find out that the real great pretenders are Planned Parenthood, who contrary to what president Cecile Richards will tell you, do not offer pre-natal care.

From people who work at Planned Parenthood:
"Planned parenthood doesn't offer prenatal care because they offer abortions...we don't offer pre-natal care here at Planned Parenthood...we specialize in abortions that's what our ultrasounds are for...I know it's called planned parenthood and that's kind of deceiving...which is a deceptive name right?..."

Thank goodness President Donald Trump is stopping funding for Planned Parenthood.

Who pulls Patrick Brown's strings anyway?

You know I have to say. It's pretty impressive when someone running for the federal Conservative leadership, actually speaks out on the Ontario government's hiding of abortion information. That's what Pierre Lemieux has done and is doing.

Heck I can't get Patrick Brown, leader of the Ontario conservative party to speak out on it. Mum's the word for Patrick. I guess after he two-timed us he decided he didn't need us social conservatives. Nope.

And Patrick is the one that you think would care about hiding abortion information. After all it's an obvious low picking fruit he could pluck from Kathleen's lush tree of juicy debacles. But no. Better to just stay quiet about it all. Maybe Kathleen pulls Patrick strings? I don't know but, Pinocchio comes to mind.

This is Pierre's announcement of his support for accountable, open and transparent government. Nope. I've never seen Patrick say anything about this. Too busy jumping to Kathleen's tune I guess.
Governments need to be accountable for how they spend our money.
In 2012, the Ontario Liberals stopped releasing data on how many abortions are performed every year.
Every other procedure is reported - but not abortion data.  This is censorship.
This is contrary to transparency and accountability in a free and democratic society like ours.
What should be available data is being kept from the public.
Right now, a group must take the Liberals to court to get basic information about healthcare – and about how our taxpayer money is being spent.
Such evidence and data are crucial to forming effective public policy and to shaping debate.
As Conservative Leader and Prime Minister, provincial and territorial governments will be required to fully report on how they spend healthcare dollars.
No exceptions.
Will the Ontario Liberals stop hiding this data?  They need to remove the clause they snuck into FIPPA that states “This Act does not apply to records relating to the provision of abortion services.”
Will Patrick Brown, leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, commit to making our healthcare spending information public if he is elected Premier in 2018?
Provinces and territories should be accountable for how they spend healthcare dollars, and we need to work together to reverse this censorship and this lack of transparency:  Support my campaign and donate today!

Dear Monte,

Thanks so much for your principled stand on conscience rights in Ontario.

It is so refreshing to see an MPP stand up for what is actually the right thing to do, instead of what is the politically correct thing to do.

Conscience rights for the health care professionals, actually also helps patients, by their knowing that they can go to an institution where conscience rights are entrenched, and therefore feel safe themselves that they will not be put to death. As a volunteer in a long term care facility, I can't tell you how important this is. Many people in our nursing homes are alone and have nobody to advocate for them. Who will protect these people if society does not?

I applaud your efforts and encourage you to not give up your principles like some politicians do.

Sincerely,

Patricia Maloney

Monte McNaughton principled stand on conscience rights

Patricia,

Did you see the story on LifeSite news yesterday entitled, “Ontario MPP promises to dig in to defend conscience rights of health care providers, workers"? The story, written by Lianne Laurence, begins: "Progressive Conservative MPP Monte McNaughton says he’s ready to “fight tooth and nail” for conscience rights of health care workers and institutions in Ontario."

I was happy to state publicly my commitment to defending the conscience rights of health care workers in Ontario, and I want to reaffirm that commitment to you today.

While I have been the only MPP to challenge the Liberal government on this issue (watch my statement at Queen’s Park by clicking here), I know that some of my colleagues also share my concern. In addition to forcing Doctors and other health care workers to act against their conscience, I believe that current language could allow Kathleen Wynne’s Liberal government to compel religious institutions which receive funding through Ontario's health care system, to perform practices like euthanasia.

How best do you think I can intervene on this issue further? I welcome your thoughts and advice and thank you for your continued friendship and support.

Yours sincerely,

2015 abortion stats from CIHI scheduled for February 28

From CIHI:
"The abortion stats are currently scheduled for release on Feb. 28. You can check our upcoming releases page, which will be updated if there are any changes."

Can we give CPCs $661,779,000, like we do for abortion?

According to Joyce Arthur, crisis pregnancy centres received 3.5 million in taxes from governments in the past five years (2011-2015)

Wow, what a pitifully small amount that government gives to crisis pregnancy centres. Surely we can do better than that? Surely we can find an ounce of compassion in our hardened hearts to give more money to crisis pregnancy centres in Canada?

These centres do amazing work in helping women with unplanned pregnancies like CAPSS does.

An interesting comparison would be to compare the dollars spent by government on abortion in Canada, to the dollars spent by government on crisis pregnancy centres.

So below I calculate an estimate of what taxpayers spent in the last five years on abortions. The numbers below are the total numbers of abortion performed in Canada from 2010-2014, based on CIHIs numbers. I then corrected the totals to account for un-reported abortions. (I used these years since CIHI hasn't published 2015 statistics yet, whereas Arthur used 2011-2015 in her calculations.)

In 2010 I learned that CIHI's Ontario abortion statistics were under-reported by 53.28%. (I originally estimated this to be 45.4% but that was based on CIHI's 2009 stats, since I didn't have the 2010 stats at the time.)

This huge discrepancy (431,745 vs 661,779) seems to be mostly from the abortions done in doctor's offices. Since these abortions are NOT captured by CIHI, we can safely assume that there are similar percentages of doctor offices abortions all across the country.

So I then applied this same percentage to all of Canada's abortions estimating a total of 661,779 abortions performed in Canada for five years. Using $1,000 cost per abortion, that's at least $661,779,000, that taxpayers have spent on abortion in Canada in the past five years.

(I have found costs estimated as high as $1,600/abortion so $1000 is underestimating the cost. Of course, if the Ontario government didn't hide abortion information from citizens we might get a better picture of the actual cost of abortion. Without those numbers we have to guess, imagine, estimate, or blue sky the numbers).

So our governments spent at least $661,779,000 on abortions for a five year period, compared to $3.5 million for CPCs.

This means the government (via the Canadian taxpayer) has paid a only tiny tiny fraction to help fund crisis pregnancy centres, as compared to what they spent on abortions. That's a lot of money going to kill unborn babies and almost nothing to support CPCs.

This makes it really clear to me that as a country we have been terribly remiss in not calling on our politicians to provide a lot more funding to CPCs. I suggest we should all email and write letters to our MPs and MPPs and ask them to increase that pitiful amount to something a lot more. In fact we should call on our governments to fund an equal amount to CPCs, as they do to fund abortions. It's our money after all. Shouldn't we have a say in where it goes?

Come to think of it, I'd like to see my tax dollars going only to CPCs and not to abortion at all.

I will be emailing my MP, MPP, the Prime Minister (justin.trudeau@parl.gc.ca) and the Minister of Health (Jane Philpott, Jane.Philpott@parl.gc.ca) and ask them to provide more funding to CPCs. I hope you do as well.

Why doesn't Patrick Brown speak out on FOI?

Pierre Lemieux believes in open, transparent and accountable government. He is running for the leadership of the federal Conservative party.

I've never heard Patrick Brown speak out publicly on Kathleen Wynne's government's decision to hide abortion information. Though he did tell me on the phone back in 2014 that he supported my case. But there is nothing at all on the Internet that shows his support.

Funny that it takes a federal Conservative party leadership candidate to speak out on this trampling of freedom of expression rights, but our provincial Conservative leader--who should care considering that health is a provincial matter--says nothing on the subject.

So I just sent Patrick Brown an email and asked him what his position is on this issue. When (if) I receive a response I'll publish it.

Stop Censorship tour opens in Ottawa

Last night Mike Mike Schouten, and John Sikkema from weneedalaw.ca and ARPA Canada kicked off our Ontario tour to educate citizens on what the Ontario government is up to in censoring abortion information in Ontario.

There are eight more stops they will be making starting Monday. This affects all people in Ontario who care about open, accountable, and transparent government.

Our case is also about our Charter rights of freedom of expression, and freedom of the press. When we are stopped from having a meaningful discussion on a subject, any subject, especially one as politically charged as abortion, we need to stand up and challenge the powers that be.

Our case does this. I hope you can attend one of the upcoming sessions.

Ottawa-Vanier byelection--how about a new beginning?

Ottawa Vanier will be having a byelection, I'm assuming, soon. This week I received a letter from a Liberal nominee hopeful, Ainsley Malhorta.

Who will the Conservative candidate be I wonder? Another automaton who gives the new normal (politically correct) answer on abortion? Will anyone stand up and say that just maybe they are against abortion?

Political correctness has become so boring. Lawrence Solomon writes in the National Post that 2016 marks the end of political correctness:
"2016 wrote the epitaph to political correctness, the most insidious of the evils facing society and also among the most toxic. To silence challengers to today’s orthodoxy, self-styled “social justice warriors” on the left have been quick to label dissenters as racists, sexists, homophobes or Islamophobes, unaware that in previous generations the dissenters from the orthodoxies — those who fought for emancipation of the slaves, women’s suffrage, gay and other civil rights — succeeded precisely because upholders of the orthodoxies were unable to silence dissent."
Dissent anyone? Anyone at all in Ottawa-Vanier? Someone who will stand up against abortion. Who will stand up against political correctness. Who can think for themselves. Who care about something more important that just winning power at all costs--unlike a certain person called Patrick Brown who won the Ontario PC leadership.

I guess that party is aptly named--PC party--the Politically Correct party. Really no different from Kathleen Wynne's party, just a clone of it, really. Just like all the rest of the parties in this country, with the Christian Heritage Party being the lone exception.

And what has political correctness got us?
"Those who see 2016 as an annus horribilis aren’t wrong. The tragic, often politically correct decisions made by the West in recent years have culminated in horrible results; the slaughter in Syria, the migrant crisis, the terrorist attacks being but some of the recent examples. In 2016 we are paying for these sins, but 2016 isn’t to blame. 2016 is merely representative of a new normal. The sinning occurred in years previous.
But 2016 should also be seen as an annus mirabilis; a wonderful year that heralds a return to the old normal. We in the West have awakened to our misfortune, to the box we put ourselves in, and we are now about to pull ourselves out."
Ottawa-Vanier--anyone want to climb out of that box?

Stop Censorship Tour begins in Ottawa Jan 7, 2017

It doesn't matter if you are pro-life or pro-choice. You should be concerned about the Ontario Government's decision to hide all abortion information from Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.

Together with ARPA Canada I am taking the Ontario Government to court, to challenge my freedom of expression rights--rights that were trampled on when the Government secretly changed the law which previously allowed access to all abortion information.

This meant I could no longer request the number and cost of abortions performed in Ontario every year. It is now hidden from the public. This is information about only one tax-payer funded medical procedure--abortion. This government does not hide information about any other medical procedure. Not yet anyway.

This information has been unavailable through FOI requests since 2012 (the last year we have data for is 2010).

This week We Need a Law begins a series of open events to explain our case. The Stop Censorship tour begins this Saturday here in Ottawa from 7:30 to 9:00 at the Ottawa Reformed Presbyterian Church, 466 Woodland Ave, Ottawa.

Other venues in Ontario will take place around the province.

If we want an open, transparent, accountable government; if we want to protect our charter rights; if we want to be able to freely debate and comment on what our government does on our behalf, we have to fight for it. I hope you can attend one of the information sessions.
